He was sentenced Wednesday in Story County District Court to 15 years in prison for being a habitual offender and two years on the hate-crime charge, to be served concurrently, the Ames Tribune reports. A jury found him guilty of the crime last month. The man who set fire to an Iowa church’s rainbow flag has received a 15-year prison sentence.Īdolfo Martinez was convicted of a hate crime for stealing the flag in June from the Ames United Church of Christ, then burning the flag outside the Dangerous Curves Gentleman’s Club, according to The Des Moines Register.
